Gateway on Failing Forward: http://vimeo.com/channels/gatewaychurch. Cool analogy of us as bouncy balls. Summary- we were all made to: take “Poke the Box” take initiative, start something positive, and bounce.
I recently started a new corporate job, and tried to be myself, the girl that plows down the slide with tons of initiative and without fear. What I realized quickly, is that especially within a corporate environment, there is a balance. I think it takes polish for someone that “plows down a slide” to succeede in a corporate environment. I think I can have that polish and that I am currently under a manager that can help me get it. I will also say that the girl that typically “plows down the slide” typically isn’t happy “being a number.” This girl is happiest initiating positive change and being recognized for it. I reiterate, however, that one needs to be polished to be respected. Given this, I don’t think the words, “bounce like a bouncy ball” are the best words to use when a corporate environment is in question. Then again, maybe I’m meant for a Google, where typical corporate restrictions don’t seem to apply.
